Kathleen “Kat” Barron, M.A.Ed., is a veteran educator, corporate trainer, and speaker. Her Social Engineering talks center around the idea of a “Humanity Matrix” as both an assessment and an attack tool.

Beyond her B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology (Human Development) and her M.A.Ed. in Secondary Education, Kat has spent 15 years educating hundreds of people of all ages, demographics, and ability in the social skills necessary to become the change they wish to see in the world.

Kat is active in the tech, engineering, and infosec worlds; she represents the interests of several Los Angeles hackerspaces, conventions, and community organizations. She has designed educational curricula that cater to the hacker ideals of cooperative project-based education that emphasizes the value of individual strengths in accomplishing complex tasks and exploring complex topics.
